NFL Predictions NFC South Picks Vegas Odds: With the exception of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the NFC South is filled with high-powered
offenses but mediocre defenses. Even the perennially defensive-minded Carolina Panthers team stumbled late in the season allowing 30+ points in five of their last seven games. This season, all four NFC South teams loaded up on defense in an effort to acquire the balance necessary to make a run at the Lombardi Trophy.
NFC South NFL Predictions:
1. New Orleans Saints -While it is beginning to sound like a broken record, New Orleans finally seems to have defense that can keep opponents in check. Drew Brees and crew will stack points on the scoreboard like monopoly money, and their defensive front seven has enough talent to help them win the division. The 2010 Superbowl Odds for the NFC South 2009 New Orleans Saints is at 20-1 Vegas Odds.
2. Atlanta Falcons - The Atlanta Falcons were the surprise team in 2008, and have made some smart front-office decisions in the off-season. Atlanta’s defense got a nip/tuck with some new blood brought in, but they will remain a step behind the Saints with their current defensive setup. The 2010 Superbowl Odds for the NFC South 2009 Atlanta Falcons is at 20-1 Vegas Odds.
3. Carolina Panthers- Carolina is never flashy but always effective at their conservative brand of John Fox football. Carolina added one of the best pass-rushing prospects in recent year in #1 pick DE Everette Brown to help a stalling defense. Carolina’s team appears to be stuck in neutral however, as the rest of the division ascends. The 2010 Superbowl Odds for the NFC South 2009 Carolina Panthers is at 18-1 Vegas Odds.
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have undergone a major overhaul from top-to-bottom and have no proven starting quarterback. Tampa’s defense was a top-10 NFL unit and they still have a good core of defensive players from last season. 32-year old rookie head coach Raheem Morris is unproven, but has been groomed well, and Tampa Bay could do better than most expect. The 2010 Superbowl Odds for the NFC South 2009 Tampa Bay Buccaneers is at 45-1 Vegas Odds.
