The odds to win AFC West reflect the impact that Peyton Manning’s arrival means to the books in Vegas. Our AFC West predictions staff is siding with the sharpies in Sin City that favor the Broncos at +140 over the Chargers (+225), Chiefs (+300) and lowly Raiders (+450). The top three teams all have a shot at going to the postseason while the odds to win AFC West on the Raiders appears ridiculously low in our AFC West predictions expert opinion. Manning and the Broncos appear to have the goods to win the division but the Chargers aging stars and Chiefs new regime will be nipping at their heels. Our AFC West predictions sharps took a closer look.
Odds To Win AFC West and AFC West Predictions
Denver (+140 Odds To Win AFC West)
Peyton Manning might not be 100% but at 90% he is still a one man wrecking crew. The defense is also well-equipped for today’s NFL with pass-rushers and strong covermen. Head coach John Fox’s team rally’s around him and Manning’s arrival will raise Mile High Stadium’s noise to deafening levels.
NFL Picks Projected Record: 10-6
San Diego (+225)
Expect a bounce back season from QB Phillip Rivers an co. with head coach Norv Turner under the gun. The O-line is leaky but the Steelers have proven that you can reach the postseason and beyond with a shaky front. Talent still reigns supreme in the NFL and the Chargers still have enough core pieces to compete.
NFL Picks Projected Record: 9-7
Kansas City Chiefs (+300)
The Patriot inspired Chiefs under new coach Romeo Crennel look solid across the board. High-paid QB Matt Cassel is the x-factor for a team that runs the ball brilliantly. They should also benefit from having key players return from injury. The Chiefs have the most betting “value” at +300.
NFL Picks Projected Record: 9-7
Oakland Raiders
Shell shocked Raiders QB Carson Palmer is arguably the worst starting signal-caller in the NFL and rookie head coach Dennis Allen is green inside the headsets. Oakland has strength inside the trenches but little else. The Raiders could be the whipping boys of the West despite two consecutive respectable seasons.
NFL Picks Projected Record: 4-12
