In a spectacle as big as the Super Bowl, 58-year-old Mike Tyson will step back into the ring to face big-punching court jester Jake Paul at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Paul vs. Tyson Odds opened with Paul as the -325 favorite, but with 78% of Paul vs Tyson Picks being placed on Tyson, the line has moved to Paul at -200. The 31-year age gap between Tyson and Paul is the largest in boxing history.
Tyson (50-7, 44 KOs) last fought four years ago against Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition that ended in a split draw. Many believed Tyson won the fight as a 2/1 favorite. Paul (11-1, 7 KOs) dominated Mike Perry in his last outing, scoring a sixth-round knockout as a 4/1 favorite.
Does Tyson have anything left after years of hard living? Can Paul withstand Tyson’s early surge? What if Jake gets reckless and trades with the legendary slugger? And with no drug testing for this fight, who benefits the most? Tyson, always unpredictable, slapped Paul during their press conference—can he keep his composure without risking disqualification? Vegas Sharps gives sharp bets for this must-see matchup between two of boxing’s most colorful figures.
Jake Paul Boxer Profile
The Good
“The Problem Child” is strong, athletic, and brimming with confidence, believing he can take out anyone with his overhand right, which he throws like a 100 mph fastball. His timing, honed by extensive sparring, allows him to land his devastating right hand as a vicious counter. Paul shares a birthday with Muhammad Ali and possesses a similar level of self-belief. Much like Ali, his mobility is arguably his best asset, both offensively and defensively. Paul’s left jab has steadily improved, and he’s known as a gym rat who never ducks sparring sessions, ensuring he’s always well-prepared.
“I could become the next Muhammad Ali.” – Jake Paul
The Bad
Paul suffered his only loss to Tommy Fury, a fringe prospect, but did manage to drop Fury in the final round. While Paul has made strides while learning on the job, he still has much to improve, particularly in slipping and rolling with punches. He has yet to display the relaxation and fluidity of a top-tier fighter, which leads to stretches of inactivity when winded. His left hook and uppercut are not as effective as his jab or cross, and he often resorts to grappling and holding when fighting inside.
Mike Tyson Boxer Profile
The Good
At, 58, Tyson is a beach ball of muscle that has taken advantage of the no-drug testing policy. Left Hook remains dangerous —Roy Jones Jr. once described it as feeling like being kicked in the chest by a horse. Tyson’s hand speed is still above average for short bursts, and his power jab is a key weapon. He was one of the best defensive fighters in his prime and still retains decent technique.
“He’s a man a manufactured killer. Television and papers made him a killer. I’m a natural born killer.” – Mike Tyson
The Bad
Tyson didn’t look good against Roy Jones Jr. in their exhibition, and there’s little to suggest he’s improved since then. His timing and accuracy may be off after a four-year layoff. His legs have been an issue since a torn ACL two decades ago, and his stamina has never been great, worsened by a childhood lung condition. At this stage, Tyson can only fight in short bursts and struggles to maintain consistent output. He’s now more of an arm puncher, winging wide blows with less leverage. Tyson tends to unravel when things don’t go his way and often resorts to dirty tactics. His history of drug use could have diminished his reflexes as well. No longer is “Iron Mike” with ordinary punch resistance.
Paul vs Tyson Predictions
Tyson has burned money as a favorite in his last two professional fights, losing to Danny Williams and Kevin McBride as a 9/1 and 11/1 favorite, respectively. If Tyson can’t intimidate Paul early, he quickly goes from predator to prey. While Tyson’s training clips show impressive speed, the reality is that “the bag doesn’t hit back.”
Boxing is a young man’s sport, and Paul has a clear advantage in speed, reflexes, and footwork. Tyson will come out aggressively early (Tyson via 1st round KO +1500), but he will tire quickly. Paul’s jab, combination punching, and footwork will allow him to outbox Tyson from range. The only things that could keep “Iron Mike” upright are the oversized 14oz gloves and stubborn Brownsville pride.
Paul vs Tyson Picks
Bet heavily on a juiced-up Jake Paul to win this one easily. Tyson’s early rush won’t be enough, and he will fade as the fight progresses.
